Experimental Study on the Flexural Behaviors of Prestressed Segmental Ultra–High–Performance Concrete Channels and Reinforced Conventional Concrete Deck Composite Girders

Flexural testing on two prestressed segmental ultra–high–performance concrete channels and reinforced conventional deck composite girders (PSUC–RCCD) was carried out. One made up of four segments with dry joints, the other formed one channel beam without a joint. Both them poured slab site. The mechanical behaviors girders, including whole loading process, crack pattern, failure mode were investigated compared. effect number steel fiber volume fraction UHPC bending behavior PSUC–RCCD girder explored using finite element method. This study showed that process semi-segmental integral is similar; can be divided into elastic phase, development, phase. only notable difference between stage development; specifically, after cracking, stiffness reduced rapidly, while “bridging effect” fibers in integrated caused slow reduction rigidity. flexural cracks significantly less than those terms cracks, present at joints. analysis had little influence capacity but even numbers cracked earlier odd segments. Increasing (ultra–high–performance concrete) small cracking load enhanced its ultimate capacity. Based this experiment, calculated method for estimating semi-sectional proposed. values good agreement experimental values. In preliminary design, section could estimated by multiplying resistance factor 0.95.
